Jaisalmer - The Golden City | INDIA

Ah Jaisalmer! We took the overnight train from Jaipur to Jaisalmer and what a great surprise waking up in such gorgeous destination. It felt like a dream.
It is called golden city for a reason! The yellow sandstone used in almost every architecture of the city and it is definitely stunning.

View from the top of the Fort

We didn't know where to stay, as usual, so we went to a few hotels in different locations, the less pricey ones were outside of the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort. Our dilemma was if should we stay outside of the fort and have the view of it or should we stay inside, paying more to have city views. It was basically a win/win really. Well... After a couple of hours contemplating and looking at places, the Fort was so amazing that we decided to stay inside. They have hotels, shops, etc inside of the Fort. It is like an inception city.

Holy cows inside of the fort

We spent a lot of time just walking around the fort, up and down, eating/drinking at the top of one of the fort towers with sunset views, bought a couple of clothes, had a great time at rooftop bar, etc. Check out our short video here to see some of it :)

Our loo with a view!

Our bedroom was also the best! I loved it, we paid about $35 per night but it was worth it. We had stunning views from our bedroom and bathroom windows. Golden dust, golden city, golden sunset and peace. We loved everything about this city.

One of the 3 days we spent in the Desert, which was about 50km from Pakistan border. It was an amazing experience. It was our first desert/camel trip. Please note that it is not comfortable to ride camels, your ass will be in pain for a while - also not comfortable for them I believe :( So I don't think I would do it again, poor things...

Viv and camels

Beer - Sunset - Desert
We took the Jeep to and from the skirts of the desert, took a camel to the middle of it, probably a 30min ride. Had lunch, dinner, more camel riding, met some locals and some funny goats, saw different architectures and how people live in this area, saw a hell lot of sand, watched the sunset in the desert surrounded by camels, dogs and nice people.

We spent the night in the desert, we had only sand, blanks and a fire. Under the stars, clear sky and cold temperatures during the night. That night was the night I saw the most shooting stars in my whole life. Fabulous!

Morning, brekky, camel ride back to the skirts to be picked up by the jeep.

End of a unique experience however, I wouldn't do it again, as I felt guilty riding those lovely camels. Camels are gorgeous creatures!

If we didn't have our tickets already booked for the next few destinations we would've stayed at least 2 more days to fully explore the area.
Anyways, this was one of my favorites destinations in India and I would totally recommend at least 5 full days there.

Our next destination was quite exciting too, the Blue city!! I love how every city has a colour hahaha...
