Mumbai (Bombay) | INDIA
Here is where the fun begin… not.

After another long overnight train ride, we were both very excited to visit the capital city of Maharashtra and a financial center of India! As it is the most cosmopolitan metropolis of India, we were planning on going out at night to clubs, bar, cool restaurants and so on. We ended up choosing YMCA hotel to stay at least for the first night. It was basic but had everything we needed and it wasn’t expensive, plus the location was pretty good too.
On our way from the regional train station the local train station we decided to walk. It was quite a long walk and the sun was extremely hot at that time too. We saw a lot of poverty and depressing scenery on our way there. Quite sad this reality.

On our way to the next train station |
After arriving at the YMCA we freshened up and we went to a famous restaurant nearby called Leopold Cafe which was really crowded, but we were so happy end having a good time, good food and beer.
When suddenly, during dinner, I started feeling sick. My blood pressure went dooown real bad, I started to have cold sweat halfway through dinner, damn! Couldn't hear and see properly anymore, was about to faint. Then, started with vomit and diarrhea (toilet of course) and yes, soon enough dengue fever symptoms were all over the place.
We had to rush back to the hotel. Without finishing beer and dinner(NOOOOO!!)

I was so so sick that I could not move one finger literally as my joints were destroyed! So painful oh gosh, worst feeling ever. Whole body sore, fever, headache, etc. Viv ended up going to a couple of attractions by himself while I was about to die back in the hotel. It was just great, 3 days in Mumbai were spent sleeping and of course, visiting Bombay Hospital too.
Viv saw the Gateway of India in person, I didn't. HA. not cool. |
I was lucky enough to find an okay hospital actually and not having to pay a lot of money for the consultation and hydration. They put me on 2 drips and wanted to admit me so I could spend the night at the hospital. However, it would cost us thousands since we had no insurance or anything! So I said no, and basically I just needed a lot of rest and to drink at least 3lt of fluids per day and I would be fine.
So that’s what i did, drank lots of coconut water, water, ate watermelon, ice-cream etc etc. Lost a lot of weight too as I could not eat much because of my upset stomach.
Taking prescription tablets for headache, fever and upset stomach daily, plus all the liquid and 100% rest, made me feel better by the end of our 3rd day in Mumbai, which is when we were leaving to Goa.
