Udaipur - The White City (Lake City) | INDIA
We ended up having to go from Jodhpur to Udaipur by taxi instead of train, because there wasn’t any tickets available. We definitely paid more, however it took us only 5hs instead of 13hs. And also the road conditions were pretty good (surprisingly)!
We managed to stop somewhere in between the 2 cities to have (free) lunch at this amazing temple. Unfortunately I cannot recall the name of the city neither the temple. Our driver that decided to stop there for a break actually.

Arriving in Udaipur, what a wonderful surprise! Such a pretty city with white houses and a gorgeous lake called Pichola with a palace in it!
Hotel Nayee Haveli is where we stayed the 3 nights, beautiful lake view, cool rooftop area with restaurant and a friendly owner.
Watch the short video here :)

Here are my favorite spots to watch the wonderful sunset with lake views:
Rooftop at Dream Heaven Haveli Restaurant and Guest House |
- Sunset view A Tandoori
- Jheel Guest House
- Dream Heaven Haveli
One evening we went to Bagore Ki Haveli Museum to watch a lovely presentation they had on that night, with colours, dancers and funny acts. Definitely worth a visit to see some traditional indian dance and culture.
I was so excited when I found out there was a Horse Riding tour in Udaipur! It was an excellent experience. The horses were wonderful, landscapes were stunning and the guides were super nice people. Ah! And I've never seen such comfy saddle, I could've spent 5h riding non-stop (as if) and my bum wouldn't be in pain for sure. I was very surprised actually, that's what I call quality.
Having a great time sunset horse riding |
Worth checking out Mansapurna Karni Mata Ropeway, a Chairlift up the mountain to have a beautiful panoramic view of the whole city, palaces and lake Pichola. By the way, fun fact haha this is the city that one of the James Bond movies was filmed.
Chairlift lookout view - Lake Palace (white) and City Palace (beige) in the background on the right |
Gangaur Ghat (Gangori Ghat) - Main ghat situated waterfront of Lake Pichola - We were staying pretty close to this Ghat, so why not checking it out.
City Palace - This Palace complex is huge seriously, no wonder why it took them nearly 400 years to build it and contributions from several rulers of the Mewar dynasty.
I would call it an inception palace since many palaces were built inside of this palace. Well I guess it is already called City Palace, maybe because it is a city of palaces inside of the complex haha whatever.
Definitely worth checking it out as part of it is a museum, so very interesting stuff.
Didn't find a photo of it for some reason but it's fine.
Awesome lake view from our bedroom |
